Fixed Income Capital Markets
Year after year, Fixed Income Capital Markets has expanded its capabilities to provide broader coverage, exceptional service and timely insights and analysis.
Baird is committed to building the best fixed income business in the middle market through strategic investments in talent, products and capital. We have grown our Sales and Trading and Public Finance teams by 25% in the past five years, and we leverage our diversity of expertise to provide clients with consistent account coverage and in-depth advice.
FIXED INCOME SALES AND TRADING
While many of our competitors are downsizing their fixed income operations, Baird continues to invest meaningfully in capabilities and capital. Our team of 156 sales, trading and analytics professionals serves clients from 27 locations across the United States. They trade a full range of taxable and tax-exempt securities for institutional clients, maintaining a close dialogue in order to deliver the customized portfolio analysis, analytical insights and trading support clients seek and have come to expect from Baird.
We have continued to add depth and breadth to our sales and trading platform over the past three years. During 2013, we formed a 35-person high-yield securities team that has become a successful addition to our client offerings. In early 2015, we enhanced our presence in the investment-grade corporate debt markets with the addition of 19 sales and trading professionals. These additions enable Baird to provide clients with a broader platform of products and services.
Our Public Finance group's long-term focus on deepening its client relationships positioned them for success in 2015. A combination of pent-up demand and low interest rates encouraged municipalities to seek financing for new and delayed projects. We were the nation's No. 1 municipal underwriter of issues of $100 million or less, by number of issues, according to Ipreo MuniAnalytics. During the past five years, Baird has served municipal issuers in all 50 states.
Baird's Fixed Income Capital Markets teams have grown 25% over the past five years, expanding our capabilities and coverage.
Baird's deep expertise in municipal underwriting also encouraged clients to increasingly seek out our team's insightful advice on financing solutions. More than 40% of Public Finance's 2015 revenues were derived from advisory and consulting assignments.
In early 2015, we welcomed a Houston-based team specializing in municipal utility districts, special districts and water authorities. Our 57 bankers and analysts now serve clients from 11 locations across the United States, delivering a powerful combination of national coverage and local market expertise in sectors such as Healthcare, Economic Development and Education. Baird is a leading underwriter of education bonds nationwide and has served as senior manager for more education issues than any other firm since 2009, according to Ipreo MuniAnalytics and Thomson Reuters.
